CinemaBlend has named The Sims franchise as one of the best new this decade.

“Electronic Arts once came under fire by the loved ones of employees who were working on The Sims because they felt like the company was over-working them. It’s true, it seems like the developers were (are) working on The Sims content night and day to pump out one expansion pack for one of the best selling PC games of all time.”

PCAdvisor has published their review of The Sims 3: World Adventures.

“This is no ordinary “vacation” pack, however; in past expansions, Sims would visit re-skinned stages with little new gameplay. In The Sims 3: World Adventures, players can investigate underground tombs, solve puzzles, find hidden treasures, while exploring a variety of beautiful backdrops.”

Students of the University of Warwick, England have named The Sims 3 as one of their favourite games of the year in their student newspaper, The Boar.

“When most people think ‘Game of the Year’, they think of high-action shoot-‘em-ups like Call of Duty or Halo, but my interpretation of the title leads me down a slightly different path. Games are not just for gamers, after all, which was proven when 1.4 million people – children, adults, business men, house wives, people who don’t even own Playstations or Xboxes – bought a copy of Sims 3 in its first week of release.”

The London Telegraph has named The Sims 3 no 6 in its top ten time wasters of 2009.

“There is plenty to admire about the latest iteration of EA’s life-simulator. It has better visuals, new upgrades (such as the moviemaker option), load-free navigation and gameplay that is rife with possibilities to the point of being intimidating. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say The Sims 3 is the best instalment in the franchise. Of course, this means that it’s as addictive as its predecessors. The adverts may play up the game by promoting it as the experience of playing God, but the truth is that ultimately the player becomes a slave to The Sims 3. Anyone drawn to it will soon find hours of their lives becoming devoted to taking care of little human tamagotchis.”
